Bannon Unleashes: Trump Has “Full Spectrum Dominance” in Populist War for Transparency

Kari Donovan

Steve Bannon doesn’t pull his punches. On the latest episode of War Room, he unleashed a fiery tirade against Democrats, journalists, DC lawfare players and what he called "the corporate media’s shameless hypocrisy.” He highlighted corruption, investigations, preemptive pardons, and populism as pivotal issues.
Bannon believes the MAGA movement has achieved “full spectrum dominance” and is ready to expose wrongdoing with transparency. The topic? The legal structure that attacked MAGA and the media’s handling of political scandals. For Bannon, the metaphor was clear: the ship is sinking, and the rats are scattering.

Bannon Says MAGA Movement is Cornering the ‘Rats’

Bannon accused Democrats of being trapped by their own decisions. “We got these rats cornered like the rats they are,” he said. According to Bannon, discussions within the Biden White House about “blanket preemptive pardons” reveal panic and guilt. These pardons would shield key players in the January 6 investigation and Biden allies from accountability.
For Bannon, such actions would be catastrophic for Democrats. "If they give blanket pardons, they admit their guilt to the nation,” he asserted. He predicted this would "destroy the Democratic Party” and leave it in disarray for decades.
Bannon called out the hypocrisy surrounding the January 6 events. "If the J6 trials were so above board, why is the White House burning the midnight oil looking at pardons?” He argued that these actions prove the administration’s fear of transparency. He emphasized that the American people deserve the truth, stating, "We want transparency. We want the American people to see this.”

“Full Spectrum Dominance” in MAGA’s Fight

Bannon described MAGA’s current position as “full spectrum dominance.” This, he explained, is the ability to control the narrative and expose corruption. "We’re in the trenches,” he said, but the movement has gained significant ground. MAGA, he argued, is a deeply rooted populist-nationalist movement, built over years of struggle. "You don’t just wave a magic wand and have a movement,” Bannon said. Instead, it requires perseverance and commitment, which MAGA embodies.

Bannon saved some of his harshest criticism for the media, particularly Peter Baker of The New York Times. "Peter Baker is a bald-faced liar,” he said, accusing him of distorting Trump’s intentions and deflecting attention from Biden’s actions.

Bannon also pointed to media silence on Biden’s recent trips abroad, likening the President to a monarch. "He goes to Europe like Charlemagne,” Bannon remarked, criticizing the lack of scrutiny on the administration’s global moves.

Bannon and  investigative reporter Julie Kelly provided an intense analysis of recent developments regarding Donald Trump’s legal challenges and the broader implications for political power and justice in the U.S. Both commentators framed the dismissal of the January 6th related charges as a major victory for Trump and his populist movement. They criticized the prosecution’s approach as overreach, predicting significant repercussions for the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI officials involved in the investigations.

Bannon and Kelly highlighted the potential for Trump to exercise unprecedented executive power, including possibly pardoning himself or targeting perceived political adversaries. They argued that such actions, while controversial, could be framed as restoring justice against a “weaponized” legal system.

Both commentators speculated that Trump would pursue investigations into the 2020 election and potentially use the DOJ to investigate those who targeted him. This was framed as a means to expose corruption and strengthen the populist agenda.

Bannon lambasted media narratives and establishment figures for what he described as biased attacks on Trump and his movement. "Their lies are catching up with them,” Bannon said, referencing recent revelations that have left mainstream media outlets scrambling. "They’ve hit the iceberg. The D.C. establishment, Wall Street, the corporatists—they’re all jumping ship. The rats are scurrying for cover.”

Corporate Media Caught in the Crossfire

Bannon’s remarks came after reviewing clips from legacy corporate media networks, which he accused of pivoting narratives to deflect attention from damning reports. "They’ve been covering for these people for years, and now they want to act like they didn’t see the storm coming,” Bannon scoffed.
The War Room host didn’t stop there. He argued that corporate media has played a pivotal role in enabling corruption. "These journalists are co-conspirators,” he said. "They’re not journalists; they’re propagandists. And now that the truth is out, they’re pretending to be shocked. It’s pathetic.”

Bannon’s "Rats” Analogy Hits Hard

Bannon’s most biting commentary revolved around his metaphor of rats leaving a sinking ship, which he expanded into a broader critique of Washington’s power brokers. "These aren’t just minor players. These are the architects of decline, the ones who built this ship to sink,” Bannon declared. "They filled the hull with their lies, corruption, and greed. Now, when the ship’s taking on water, they’re scurrying to save themselves.”

He pointed fingers at both parties, accusing GOP establishment figures of complicity. "The McConnells, the Romneys—they’re no different. They’re rats too, just dressed in different clothes.”
Rallying the Populist Base

Bannon called on his audience to stay vigilant and refuse to let media narratives dictate the truth. "We’re at war,” he said, leaning into his trademark combative style. ”This fight is about more than just winning elections. It’s about reshaping the system through deep, structural changes”.  He left his viewers with a warning and a rallying cry: "The rats will jump ship, but they’ll still be around. Don’t let them off the hook. Call them out and expose them, and, most importantly stay in the fight.”

The War Room commentary exposes a growing sentiment among populists: the establishment is crumbling under its own weight. As the rats scurry to avoid the fallout, the War Room continues to shine a spotlight on their actions, ensuring no one escapes accountability.

Bannon defines the movement as being driven by defiance, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of truth. Whether his predictions come true remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the fight is far from over. The question now isn’t whether the ship will sink—it’s how many will go down with it.
